I bought this car because of the way it looked and the story it comes with. It was purchased new in Kentucky as a graduation present by Helena Fulkerson for her son Michael, who drove and cherished it until his passing in 2016. It has remained in Lexington all its life until I purchased it from his estate. This car retains its original Window Sticker, Bill of Sale, Protecto Plate along with its owner’s manual, and warranty book, A/C operating manual, restoration receipts, etc. Mr. Fulkerson had the car restored to a very high level and showed in both a Lexington and Louisville Concurs show, winning its class both times. This rare color, desirable and well maintained 240Z is an exceptional vehicle and one of the best documented cars left. This being the 4th 240Z I’ve owned, I plan on keeping it and it is NOT FOR SALE AT THIS TIME.
A real time capsule, this 240Z is the last year for this iconic car and being restored, looks and drives great. It was redone in its originals colors, Brown Metallic (Code 114, aka CoCo Brown) with Brown interior. The engine and transmission are original to the car and received full overhauls. It has been exceptionally well cared for all its life. It was undercoated by the dealer when new (see receipt) which aided in keeping the car in pristine condition. Vehicle had any rust issues fixed when restored and the paint is outstanding………super shiny, no chips, dings or runs.
This 240Z was factory/dealer equipped with the most desirable options, including working air conditioning (blows cold), 4 speed, rear window defroster, power antenna, and an AM/FM radio. It now has a modern aftermarket unit but the original one still works and comes with the car. The Japanese have always excelled in their electronics and this car is no exception…everything works: all the gauges, radio, lights, horn, interior lights, heater/defroster, flashers and yes, even the clock still keeps perfect time.
The interior of the car is in great condition. The seat covers have been replaced. The carpet is new. There are no cracks in the dash. The door panels are like new and aftermarket steering wheel are excellent, but I have the original. It has the original jack and the original factory Bridgestone spare tire. The windows and windshield are in great condition and the windows roll up and down effortlessly.
The engine bay is amazing, in better than new condition. It is immaculate and retains most of its original equipment…..carbs, air cleaner, and radiator. The starter, alternator, hoses, plugs and plug wires, battery and fluids have been updated. The engine was ahead of its time mounting an aluminum head with an overhead cam. The twin carbs are well tuned and there is no smoke. It idles smoothly and the engine is so very quite and well mannered. It does not leak any fluids.
Mechanically the car starts, runs and drives great. The powerful in-line 6 cylinder coupled to the 4 speed along with fully independent suspension and disc brakes is a blast to operate. The speedometer, tachometer and a full set of gauges are all visible and provide the right feedback to the driver. It was one of the best sports cars in that era and remains so. I am happy and proud to be its new owner.
